How It Works

Step 01

Upload or paste

Select a FIRA PDF from your device, or paste the text of an advice you already have in another format.

Step 02

Text extraction runs locally

The document text is read inside your browser. The file is never uploaded to Bandhu or to any third-party service.

Step 03

Fields are detected

Recognisable labels — reference, dates, amounts, rate, purpose code, parties and SWIFT identifiers — are matched and presented as structured fields.

Step 04

Verify against the original

Compare every extracted value with the source document before using it for reconciliation, bookkeeping or filings.

Key Benefits & Use Cases

Faster reconciliation

Read the key values of an inward remittance advice without scrolling through a densely formatted bank PDF.

Consistent record keeping

Pull the same set of fields off every advice so your export receipts file stays uniform across banks.

Spot missing information early

Fields the parser cannot find are flagged, which is a useful prompt to go back to your bank before a filing deadline.

Nothing leaves your device

Remittance advices contain counterparty and banking details. Local processing means none of it is transmitted.

What is a FIRA?

A Foreign Inward Remittance Advice is the document a bank issues to confirm that funds have been received from overseas into a beneficiary's account. It records who sent the money, how much arrived, in which currency, at what conversion rate and under which declared purpose.

Exporters and service providers rely on these advices as evidence of realisation of export proceeds. Banks may also issue a certificate form of the document; formats and titles differ between institutions.

How Document Analysis Works Here

The tool extracts the text layer of the PDF in your browser and then matches labelled patterns against it. Because it works on text, a scanned image with no text layer will produce little or nothing — in that case paste the values manually.

Bank layouts vary widely. When a label is worded unusually, a field may come back empty or capture adjacent text. That is a limitation of pattern matching, not an indication that the document is wrong.

Information You Can Extract

Depending on how the issuing bank labels its advice, the parser looks for the following:

  • Remittance or transaction reference number
  • Value date and advice date
  • Foreign currency amount and currency code
  • Credited amount in local currency
  • Applied exchange rate
  • Declared purpose code and purpose description
  • Remitter (sender) name and details
  • Beneficiary (receiver) name and account details
  • SWIFT/BIC identifiers of the banks involved
  • Charges or deductions where the advice states them

Common Verification Checks

Before filing an advice away, check that the reference number is unique in your records, that the foreign currency amount matches the invoice you raised, and that the difference between invoice value and credited value is explained by the stated rate and charges.

Confirm that the declared purpose code reflects the actual nature of the transaction, and that the remitter name matches the buyer on the invoice. Mismatches are the most common reason banks come back with queries.

Privacy and Processing

PDF parsing happens entirely client-side. The file is read into browser memory, its text is extracted, and the result is displayed. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged by Bandhu, and refreshing the page clears everything.

When This Helps

Export proceeds trackingMatch each inward advice to the export invoice it settles and record the realisation date.
Rate reconciliationCheck the applied conversion rate against the reference rate for the value date to understand the spread.
Purpose code reviewConfirm the purpose code your bank declared matches the nature of the service or goods supplied.
Short credit investigationIdentify deductions that explain why the credited amount is lower than the amount your buyer sent.
